| Gloria
Garrison has the gift of capturing those
wonderful war, moments and perfect glimpses, that one would
like to remember forever, with a style imbued with nostalgia.
Her love for the technique of watercolor is evident inthe
excciting flow of color and form over the paper. acjoevomg
effects that range from realism to the abstract.
Garrison attended Arkansas
Tech University and has studied with such contemporary artists
as Milford Zornes, Irving Shapiro, Frank Webb, Don Andres,
Bill Herring, Jeanie Dobie, and Gerald Brommer.
Garrison's style continues
to evolve as she reaches greater heights with each new painting.
Her work has been exhibited at the Arkansas Arts Center,
Fort Smith Art Center, Arkansas River Valey Art Center,
and in various traveling shows throughout the state. Her
work has been accepted in a national exhibit, Watercolor
USA. She is a signature member of the Mid-Southern Watercolor
Society and Artists of Northwest Arkansas. She was also
selected to paint the poster for the 2005 Arkansas Heritage
Month.
Garrison
and her husband, Bill, were selected as the first Artists-in-Residence
at Buffalo National River in 1996 and in 1998 at Glacier
National Park.
Gloria
Garrison of Russellville has received an invitation from
Watercolor U.S.A. to become a member of the Watercolor Honor
Society (WHS) as a result of receiving an award in this
years Watercolor USA Exhibit in Springfield, Missouri.
Artists
who either receive an award given by the juror in Watercolor
USA or whose painting has been purchased for the permanent
collection of the Springfield Art Museum are granted the
honor of qualifying for membership in the Watercolor Honor
Society. The Watercolor Honor Society (WHS) is considered
one of the most prestigious watercolor organizations in
the United States and works directly with the Springfield
Art Museum to promote watercolor nationally with national
exhibition opportunities from its membership, including
the Watercolor Now exhibit, educational outreach, and support
of the Watercolor USA annual exhibit at the Springfield
Art Museum. The membership also entitles you to use the
letters WHS after your signature on your watercolors.
