Annette Kagy was born in Little Rock and expressed an interest in art at a
very early age. Practicality took over and she entered the field of
Medical Technology obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological
Science from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The next years
were filled with parenting and fashion modeling. When the necessity for
these art forms was over, she then was free to pursue the fine arts.
“I found my niche when I discovered soft pastel on sandpaper colors are
layered on eh sandpaper to produce vibrance and depth as opposed to
pre-making paint on a palette prior to application. Toddlers, still life
and landscape all appeal to me. I prefer to photograph my subjects and
work from that as well as the remembered details.”
Awards include the Strawberry River Art Association juried competition
winning two Firsts, one Second, one Third and Best of Show. The North
Little Rock Annual Mayor’s Show brought a Second place cash award in 1998,
and First places in 1999 and 2001.
