"I began my love of art one summer as a child in a cottage at Burchwood Bay on Lake Hamilton with 'with a paint by number kit'. My mother constantly provided encouragement, materials and inspiration to further my artistic expression. My career in graphic arts and love for texture, color and light have given me the inspiration to create pieces with exceptional movement and depth."
When asked about her "K.a.-kitchen art", Janis said, "on a trip to Santa Fe, I was inspired by the San Busco Farmers Market. Seeing the shapes and colors and textures of the fruits and vegetables took my art in another direction."
